    Noobie Question

Hello Everyone, So i have a noobie question, that hopefully i could get answered.

I have searched this 5 lug thread for a couple days now and i only see a couple write ups on the topic. However, i read that there are many different ways (parts) in doing this. Which is the best option....????

    My current setup:
    1991 325i Convertible - M30 turbo swap (in progress)
    Bilstien shocks/struts
    Ground control lower springs
    TSW 4 Lug 16"

Obviously I want to get a 5 Lug conversion so the rims will be useless to me soon.

There is no "best" option. It all depends on what you want. You need to figure that out for yourself.

you're right, that was a noobie question.

what is your budget? i think that is probably the first question.

actually, the first question is why? then budget.

I think the "best" way to go for a 5-lug swap would be E30 ///M3 suspension.

        Expensive though.

I need bigger brakes for better stopping power. Those little brakes on the car now is not going to hold 500+ hp.

Budget itsnt that big an option, yet i dont want to go crazy on it. I do have other things i want to buy for this car rather then blow so much on the 5 lug swap. I would say about $1500 would be the budget.

well why don't you get one of massive lee's big brake kits if you are concerned with stopping power? then blow your money on the other stuff.

Yep, for $1500 you will be buying a 4 lug BBK, and not a 5 lug swap.

You are going to need more than bigger brakes with 500+hp to be able to use that power (think traction issues)...

Your budget will (maybe) get you e36 5 lug parts. IF you can find e30 m3 5 lug parts used expect $1800-2000 for everything and new will run you almost twice that without brakes(NLA).

Keep beating the pavement and you will find the stuff you need over time.

                  ;)

Well i can do 1800-2000... only problem is finding e30 M3 parts is like a needle in a haystack. I mine as well buy an e30 M3

s14.net is a great place to look for e30 m3 5 lug parts. They do pop up every once in awhile on there. Ebay (search e30 m3) will also net you the parts sometimes. The most expensive parts that you need to find used are the both front strut housings and all oem brake carriers and calipers (since they are NLA but there is a alternate option for the rears however). All the other parts will run about $1500 new

heres a complete noobie question. As im not familiar much on suspensions.

Is there a location as to where all the parts are listed that is needed. It would be easier so then i could peice it together and be able to check off what i have and what i need.

Every writeup on here doesnt say very much...

                          4- m8x16 07 11 9 913 612(4)

                          2- wheel bearing/hub 31 21 2 225 362(2)

                          2- cup 77mm 31 21 1 126 065(2)

                          2- collar nut 31 21 1 128 336(2)

                          2- cap 31 21 1 138 124(2)

                          6- m6x8 34 11 1 156 427(6)

Pretty much the basics on the e30 m3 5 lug parts. There are of course control arms/bushings/tierods that should be replaced while doing the swap. And then there are some misc parts that can be reused from the 4 lug(strut bearings, strut threaded rings and spring plates/rubber pads etc etc)

The front and rear e30 m3 brake carriers and calipers are NLA (no longer available)...

You can use slightly modded e36 318ti rear carriers and e32 calipers. For the fronts there is not an option unless you do some custom rotor spacers so you can use e36 m3 front carriers/calipers. Or you can do e30 M3 BBK but then you add another $3000 to your price tag...

                              Update:

So i just purchased an E36 M3 Front end. No Shocks included though. So question. Would i still be using my e30 Springs with e36 Shocks or do i need to purchase E36 springs as well?
