What spare tire fits in my trunk?

I currently have a dsI as my spare and it elevates my whole trunk. I may just get a false bottom made if I can't find anything, but I would prefer to, well, not have all that stupid extra weight.

My buddy is making a sub box for me (molding it into the spare wheel so I don't lose cargo space) and I need a wheel that is big enough to fit over my brakes, and proper offset, but isn't so wide that it sticks out of the spare tire well.

I have e36 m3 brakes and suspension (m coupe rear).

    any ideas?

I'd think that a DSI would fit better than most because of they are only 7.5" wide. Most other E36 wheels are 8"+ in size, but I'm sure you already knew this. What about a 16" Style 5 or are you trying to fit a 17" wheel? Sorry I can't be of more help.

it's a tough life, but I held no gun to your head

                thanks for the info.

that would be incredible useful, however I'm unsure if I would rely solely on this. In the event of a blowout I'd be fucked.

If you deflate the tire does that help at all? I have of all things a nice 17x8 HRE 545 with 205/50/17 snow tire in my trunk. I had to let all the air out and push it into my spare tire well and I have a little cig lighter powered compressor if I need it. It does push up the floor a little bit now that I think about it, but see if a little less air lets it go down farther in the well. A 205/40/17 tire might be a good idea too on a 17x7 or something. E36 m's come with full size spares, I don't think you're gonna find a space saver that clears M brakes, few 16" aluminum wheels do...

HaHa. I had this in my car but I had a spare on the side of my house that all my friends had access to. When I really needed a spare, just call one up and ask them to deliver. On a serious note, hows about the new thin ass steelies im seeings as Lexus spares?

any 7" wide rim would fit, and e46s came with plenty of those.

do e46 wheels fit without spacers? when I got my m3 it had these wheels on there

and they didn't fit without spacers

I think I may just go with an ///m mobility kit. I was hanging out with a friend of mine yesterday who has an e39 m5, and I think he may have talked me into it.

plus that would probably afford me the room to run my 1 10" kicker L7 in the trunk, I just have to figure out a way to attach it...

For the record my DS1 spare fits fine in my trunk. It doesn't have a giant E36 sized tire on it though.

E46 convertibles have cool skinny little 17" steelie spares though.

                              E46 330 non-sports have 17x7 ET47 wheels. But honestly what Matt said is correct, a 17x7.5 DS1 will fit with E30-size tires.
