318ti vs Z3 6cyl hubs offset/wheel option Question

I'm trying to decide between 318ti rear end or Z3 hubs/rotors/calipers since I have both available.

From what I gather from http://extradrei.com/5lug.html (which I hope is totally accurate):

318ti complete swap will work with low offset wheels (et20).

Z3 6cyl hubs/rotors/calipers will work with high offset wheels (et40)

Is this correct guys?

That is what I understood from it.. I'm going ti so I can run 17x8 et20 style 5s with some fender work... Someone with more experience should know for sure though.

I have a set of 17" e34 M-System Throwing stars I'd really like to use perhaps with some 215/40 rubber. They are the only 17's I'd consider. I also have some 16" 850il Directionals, and some E38 16" Style 5.

I also have e36 m3 staggered lightweight wheels as well as non staggered motorsports, but to me 17's look too large on e30. These are of course 40+ offset so from what i understand i'd have to go with 318ti to pull that off right?

complete 4 cyclinder z3 (1.9L) or 318ti rear trailing arm assemblies will put you in et41 territory.

yes. High offset e36/e46 wheels are the best.

but if you want to run ET20, note that it says "easier" under 318ti. It's 5mm "easier", that's all.
