5 lug help

Hello all, I just got my '90 e30 with the 5lug swap already done to it. It seems like he did it right, using parts from various e36s, but I've encountered a few problems. First and foremost, it feels very twitchy and unstable at speeds of 50+. I feel like if I turn the wheel the tiniest bit, It'll just lose control and start death wobbling. Second, the front wheels sit to the rear of the wells, rubbing when I make tight turns. Here's what I know about the setup that the PO told me.
-e36 318ti rear trailing arms
-e36 318ti rear spindles
-'93 325i front spindles
-'93 325i front tie rod ends
-'96 M3 front control arms

Can someone give me a list of parts to make the car more stable at speed and bring it as close to the stock geometry? Thanks in advance!

You already found your problem.

Second, the front wheels sit to the rear of the wells, rubbing when I make tight turns.

e36 suspension changes both the camber and caster angles from the stock location. You need to run adjustable plates or offset upper mounts to compensate. Come on now, use your noggin. :stupid:

You need the m3 spindles too. Regular 325i just doesn't move it far enough ahead.

Also you'll need e30 m3 control arm bushings. They are offset and not centred.

You HAVE to run the E36 M3 spindles (as mentioned above) along with offset control arm bushings to center the wheel.

Your stability issues are most likely related to bad bushings, ball joints, struts, or tie rods though.

Dare you to try and find a lower price. you'll need new hubs though.

Checkout Condor for offset CAB bushings, or look for some treehouse or bimmerworld CAB's.

I don't think you need to run offset upper mounts, I think this only applies when you try using none M control arms. Camber plates would be recommended if you plan on lowering your car.

I'm back for brake help with this setup. So after I get e36 M3 spindles, I'll need M3 brakes and hubs correct? Because now I'm in need of a brake overhaul, and I don't want to buy brakes that'll only work with a janky setup.

Yes, and because of the m3 brakes, you will be limited to mainly 17" wheel options, 15" will NOT fit, some 16" MAY fit, but to be on the safe side, it's pretty much a 17" thing.

I don't know what engine you have, so I don't know about your master/booster situation, but an m3 master will also help too.

Sorry for the rant, but I'm pretty frustrated now. It seems hard to believe that no e36 and e36m3 parts are interchangeable. All I wanted to do was replace the spindles to correct my wheel positioning, but this lead to me needing: m3 spindles, m3 hubs, m3 brakes, m3 brake booster and 17" wheels. I find it hard to believe all e36 5-luggers use 17 inch wheels. At this point I think it'll be cheaper to buy a whole e36 m3. You wouldn't think that changing a simple thing would discourage me to the point where I want to go back to 4 lug. /Rant

Hah I share your pain. I also started with the regular e36 stuff. But you absolutely need the e36 m3 spindles. Hubs are the same. I've seen adapters to use the standard e36 brakes on the m spindles if you wanted to go that way, you would be able to use your 15"/16" wheels also. Personally, I would just save up for the m brakes and some nice fitting 16" wheels (+41 offset). You don't need a different booster either.
