    e30 vert 5 lug questions

Car info: 1992 e30 325i cabrio 100k original miles, just overhauled the engine no engine modifications and probably wont do any unless I decide on a s52/s50 swap later down the road. Interior is completely Redone. Exterior is like a 6 but that's my last concern. Brakes and suspension need refreshing so I decided to just go with a 5 lug while im at it.

I've started to collect parts for my 5 lug swap so far I have most of the rear end parts. I decided to go with the z3 I6 option. I still have to piece together the front set up which is going to be the 96+ m3 option.

Im adding Blistien e30 rear shocks and e30 HR rear vert specific springs that I picked up for cheap.

My question is will both of these strut options work well for me?

    1. Try to find a nice used set of e36 M3 Blistien struts that hopefully aren't to expensive
    2. fit some Koni inserts in e36 M3 strut housings. The cheaper option I think

Also what front springs would match the HR e30 vert springs that I have in the rear? Im assuming front HR e30 vert springs would work but idk if ill be able to find a pair of vert specific ones used easily so what else would work and get an even ride height? E36 M3 springs? coupe/sedan e30 spring?

Hopefully I wasn't to confusing any help/opinions would be great.

    Thanks,
    Rob

I did the z3 option but I just replaced the rear bearings and hubs. you can get the fubs for $65 each I think from pelican. then you can use stock e30 springs in the rear.

Post up on bimmerforums that you want blown m3 struts, I got mine for free and paid $25 shipping. you'll need 96+ m3 control arms as well. you can get spindles cheap from bimmerworld.

checkout this site, will tell you everything you want to know. if you are thrifty you can get good deals. assembled all my parts for about $650.

For the struts I would recommend the OEM M3 housing with Koni insert over the Bilstein Sport. The ride quality will be much better. For the springs, you CAN use the E30 springs in the front with the E36 M3 housings. Go with standard E30 H&R Sports, they will match up fine with the vert specific rears. As mentioned above you're going to need to swap the Z3 6 cylinder hubs in to your original E30 trailing arms to get the offset to work.

Thanks guys that's the advise I was looking for. I already have the Z3 I6 hubs and brakes for the rear I just have to get new wheel bearings, I've have been using extradrei.com for my reference its quite helpful. I thought the Koni inserts sounded like the better option and ill see what I can find for springs.
