I got the Front, Seeking Rear options.

I just bought a nice, stock, '90 325is (125k on the clock, schwartz on schwartz) for the wife to use as a daily driver. I told her it needed new shocks and this is what I got her:

Little does she know.... So I have a complete front end from a '97 M3 + the steering rack and I get it. The rear setup is next. I am an E28/E24 kind of guy and I have two 535i parts cars sitting in my yard. Anyone done an E28 rear hub swap? What are the pitfalls. I plan on telling the wife the car is down on power and needs a new engine. This five lug swap is the precursor to a S52 transplant.

Go to dealer. Buy E30 M3 rear hubs and new bearings. Find calipers and carriers on S14.net. Get new brakes. Done.
Or just get a 318ti rear end.

Quite a nice option I might add, but I have also heard a 318ti is great for the rear suspension.

LOL, love the stealth approach :D

You can use the complete E28 rear end in the E30, however, the mods may not slip past your wife so easily as the bolt-in "Ti" solution.

Have a look at the link in my sig. has a few pic's of how I did it, not for the faint hearted.

The ti solution is looking like the preferable option. I am the lazy sort and am looking for plug and play.

Stock e30 calipers can be reused in this method. You simply use e28 (528e I believe) rear rotors and have a machine shop reduce the diameter slightly... This leads me to question if the e28 rear caliper will also work. All parts that are more readily available at pull a part... will find out Saturday.

I just did the e30 m3 5 lug swap and never ran across information regarding using stock e30 calipers w/e28 rotors. Do you have a link?

Plus why would you want to use those small rear calipers with the much larger front calipers, seems like you would have a incorrect brake bias then??

Finding front and/or rear e30 m3 brake calipers & carriers are like finding the holy grail, trust me. There is a solution to the rear if you buy e30 m3 drive flanges. All you need are e32 rear calipers and e36 318ti or non M z3 rear carriers. The carriers will need some minor modifying, nothing a grinder and a file can not handle in a matter of a few minutes. You just have to open the slot up a bit more to fit over the e30 M3 rear rotors.
