    318ti/Z3 Trailing arms w/ e36 M3 Brakes

    Simple question....

    Will it work?

I have a complete 95 M3 parts car and it has coilovers on it.

I am using the whole front setup, and would like to also use the Rear Brakes.

Can i just bolt them directly onto the 318ti/Z3 trailing arms?

    Thanks in advance!

you will need caliper brackets and you will loose your e-brake

I can deal with that on a track car

BTW custom caliper brackets, or the ones off the M3?

Just the M3 caliper carriers are needed for the e36 non-M cars .
Probably the same for those arms but not 100% sure .

Thanks, I have a whole 95 M3 at my disposal, so if that is correct, i am golden!

You’ll need custom brackets for sure… I got my 318ti trailing arms a couple of years ago and didn’t realize I didn’t have the 318ti rear calipers. The ears are narrower then a standard e36 by about a ½”. I couldn’t source any 318ti calipers when I was ready to do the swap so I made my own brackets to use standard e36 calipers.

The problem you will have mounting m3 rear brakes is the depth of the brake rotor. The contact surface where the caliper grabs is about 5 inches from the hub where the wheel bolts on. The m3 rotor is only about one inch from the hub surface. Your bracket would have to span the distance between the trailing arm ears to the m3 rotor.

I vaguely remember reading about someone on this forum saying they did it but they didn’t go into many details.
