I could search, but I want a straigh Answer

    Can I do a 5 lug swap to fit a 17" x 8" ET40 wheel?

I'll even tell you what the plans are.

I have a 1991 318i Touring that is currently still a 4 lug. I have some crap Kopis on there which just don't look good enough to go with the very real Mtech II and M50 that is going on and already in the car.

    I want a "real" rim.

However the 17" kopis I have on there 7.5" et 20 look just right on the car in terms of size.

That said I am toying between two ideas.

The BBS RG-R 4 lug - no swap required.

And then a 5 lug and running 17" alpina softlines for an E36 or these BBS RS 001's in 17 x 8 that I have come accross.

I just want to know if I do the E36 5-lug (or even the E30M3 5-lug) will these rims fit?

    Thanks!

With E36 5 lug they should fit perfectly.

I run 17x8.5s with a much lower offset than that on one set of my wheels. No problems for you whatsoever.
