    Hub question...(maybe again)

I think this has been discussed in the past but I can't remember quite well.

Anyways, while you using 318ti trailing arms with it's hubs, could you swapp the hubs for the e30 m3 just? Are the same? Will fit?

E30M3 hubs should be less wider than regular 318ti hubs right? Does somone actually has this info or pics of both? Done this swapp before?

I need desesperate wider wheels with lip....traction issues you know ;)

Thanks and sorry if this has been discussed several times. I couldn't find any direct answer.

I would assume since the wheel bearing between the two model cars are different that the e30 m3 will not work in the 318ti trailing arm at all. I would also think the 318ti trailing arm is where you are having offset differences from.

Exactly!!! and that sucks...because the larger offset it has, the less ET rims I can run with out lip.

I would love to see any person who has both trailing arms or hubs and messure em to be sure they can't be swappable (sp?)

        Hello again Diego.

the BMW parts catalog is your friend for this kind of stuff:
        E30 M3

        E36 318ti

        So, NO is the answer.

        But,
        E30 325i
Will work, still got your old ones lying around??

Just FYI, you aren't going to solve any traction problems doing this, just change how the wheels look!!

I guess the e30 M3 it's bigger. Thanks for the link my friend :p

Yes, I do have my stock 325i e30 trailing arms laying arround, but, what do you suggest? Swapp the trailing arms, and buy the 325i e30 hub and install, I mean this part http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts...37&hg=33&fg=40 Because I see the flange has 5 lug, but as we know the e30 reguar has 4lug or this is the hub made for the 325is south africa model I think?? Wich was 5 lug?

Swap the e30 325i trailing arms and use the e30 m3 hubs

Use the e30 325i trailing arms, e30 m3 hubs and brakes.

This wont give you better traction though. You can do that with stock 4 lug bits.

                I suggest you stop fiddling!!

You've got 5lug backend & beefy axles (from memory), spend the $$$ on some good tyres.
With the 'ti backend and 17x8" et38 wheels you should be fitting 245/40's with ease, if you aren't getting the traction you want, look at running a different rim/tyre combo.
But anything bigger and you are looking at body mods to fit them.

It is irrelevant what offset you have in the rear!!

At least with it the same offset at both ends you can swap wheels front to back etc...

If you wanted to go with a large rear wheel/tire combo with lip you should have gone with the e30 m3 lug setup over the e36 318ti stuff you did. You can however achieve plenty of rear grip with the 4 lug setup with the proper tires.

But I have a feeling you are wanting that dished wheel look which you will not get with the current setup.

                    OK!

Well, I'm looking rims with lip, I have some in mind, but unfortunatly they are 17" and I want 16x8 5x120 but cannot find such wheels. I will see what I do in the end.

                    Thanks for the feedback guys.

No e30 M3 parts available over here, not plenty like US. However I might score the trailing arms from a e30 M3 from some dude that he has in his M3 the race suspension from a totalled euro builded M3 for rally. I will see what I can do.

You can use e30 m3 hubs in 318ti trailing arms, just like you could do that in e30 trailing arms, as long as you use e30 m3 bearing (which fit almost every german car). Since some 318ti's had drums in the rear the hub is slightly different.

I'd look for Z3 trailing arms though. A set of those is cheaper than 2 m3 hubs.
