    FAIL miserably...rear need help!

I'm having a hell of a time trying to do the rear of my car. I took out the subframe and i am unable to remove the trailing arm on the RL side....i just can't, the RR side was a breeze. the bolt on the inner RL, RTAB just won't come out!!!!!!!!!!! lost like 6 hours today :hitler:

Anyways i need help with TWO things

    1) Ebrake cables....i need to transfer the e30 cables onto the 318Ti T/A's correct? Are the e30 shoes interchangeable?

i say this becuase i notice that the 318ti cables are much longer...

    2) Instead of removing the e30 trailing arms and loose my KMAC bushings, can i transfer the 318Ti hubs/bearings? Will they get damaged in the process?

and THREE) what's the deal with ABS? i have 95M3 fronts, 318Ti rears...searching is not doing much.

    Thanks guys,

    -etxx

    1) Easy to swap the cables over, ebrake shoes are the same.

    2) 10x easier to swap your TA bushings over than the hub & bearings (which will prob. get damaged).

As for you bolt issue, sounds like it is seized into the sleeve in TA bush??
Soak it in penetrating oil for a bit, then wack a f&#k out of it.

Propane torch and burn them out... Heat the hell out of them until the melt and drip out. Then just clean up the TA's before installing the new ones.

          ;)

etxxz: I did a big right up for Josh on how to set up/test the ABS sensors with a o-scope. Basically, you just need to make sure they all put out the same signal (same number of teeth). Then with the o-scope you can shim the sensors to get the same amplitude/signal voltage across all the sensors. Once that is done, you WILL be amazed at how well the ABS system is.

              1) excellent

              2) its stuck inside the bushing sleeve yes. I was so furious yesterday. I'll let that bolt soak all tonight and see what happens. thanks

awesome!! sounds like a plan ;) i'll have to borrow an o-scope from work. By any chance do you remember how much you shimmed the ABS sensors? i'm actually building a speed sensor for school using a abs sensor and a sprocket ;/

well. the job is mostly done... the subframe from the new chassis was easy to take apart, put together with the 5-lug stuff/ie bushings and back on the car what a job! i am not going to spend any more time trying to get my kmac bushings back.

PiercedE30: do you have a write up or am i going to have to make one? ;/ i'm going to have to wait till i put the driveshaft on to measure the a/c on the rear sensors. front sensors should be easier. You have any idea if the e30 front and rear sensors had the same amplitude/Voltage? I no longer have an e30 rear to play around with...and would hate to make a big rig for that. lmk ty!

Actually, I have no clue. Winfred, over on E30Tech, did it to his when he put the MZ3 suspension on his car. I remember there just being one or two washers underneath the tab/bolt for the sensor. I used to work with Winfred and I saw him do this to the track car that we built for the shop. Winfred is his s/n on E30Tech.

i have a lil something to add here, are the 318ti rear TA the same as a non-M e30? if so couldnt you just swap out the hubs/rotors and call it a day? i know that the calipers are the same, i just got some 318ti calipers and compared them to stock e30 ones and they are the same, like identical casting numbers and everything...

That is interesting Cary... I thought my rear calipers were different.

I am pretty sure the rear wheel bearings/hubs are not swappable between e30 and Z3/e36Ti and that is why most of use get complete assemblies to swap over.
