    Clunk in front end

There is a clunk coming from the front left when i hit a pot hole or a speed bump also when i first release the break after coming to a stop. When i jacked up the car it only made any noise when i tried to move the wheel front to back. I have bilstein struts, h&r springs, k-mac camber kit, bmp cab's and new control arms. any thoughts before i start taking everything apart

Did this happen just after you installed those suspension items, or is it a relatively new symptom?

    Maybe upper strut mounts.

Check the caliper mounting bolts -- I was having the similar mystery noises that ended up being the caliper slowly unbolting itself due to insufficient torque. (A bad thing.)

when i hit the brakes the wheel shifts backwards about a half an inch or so. im going to look at the caliper tonight and see if the bolts are tight. Also this weekend im putting treehouse cabs on it to see if it makes a difference.

well i put the cabs on today and made sure all the bolts in the breaks were tight, also checked all the bolts on the strut tower and they were fine. The car is still making the clunk but its not as bad. What else could it be?

I had the same problem in my car and new control arms fixed it.

Did you tighten the Shock nut sufficently? Up down slop in the strut.

the control arms are about a year old. The bolt at the top of the strut was a litle loose but i tightend it and it didnt help with the clunk

Tighten it with impact gun to over come the spinning of the strut tube or with hand tools?

toque spec is only like 50lb/ft for the shock top nut, you don't really need a impact gun, if that's what you are suggesting.

You are asking for trouble tightening this with an impact gun. You run the risk of twisting the strut.
