how tight are brass caliper bushings supposed to be?

im test fitting brass caliper bushings from turner in my rear calipers. they fit quite loosely into the caliper, and they also seam to be too long, ie even with the c-clip installed, they can be moved slightly in and out.

is this normal, or are they supposed to be a tight fit?

The sleeves should be very tight. If you purchased from Bimmershop, I suggest you give them a call.
The brass pins kit doesn't fit the Girling calipers. Just the ATE units.

Brake harder. Go faster. No shit.

see in the picture i see the same slack. the brass sleeve fits very tightly over the metal pins, and slides very nicely, no slack. the slack is in the brass sleeve in into the caliper. i see the same slack between the c-clip and the caliper on the left bushing and the right one is shifted towards the disc completely.

      so i guess its normal?

Maybe what you described as "slack" is in fact normal. So go on, and test drive the new pins.Don't forget to lube them regularly or they will seize.

yeah i will, at every tire rotation (5000km). using syl-glide equivalent.

The clean/re-lube interval for brass bushings is strongly dependent on driving conditions. Clean dry roads have longer intervals and dusty/dirty and/or wet conditions require much shorter intervals (perhaps a lot shorter than 5000km). The OE rubber bushings, if reasonably fresh, work quite well and there's not much advantage in switching to brass bushings on a street car.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

well the car will see double duty. however, rarely any dusty roads, no off road and no salt/winter. it will see rain however.

I have these installed in my car and the excess you see seems to have no effect on the caliper/braking performance at all. I lube these at a minimum every oil change, if not twice per interval.
