    left front caliper not releasing

What seems to be the problem? If I don't drive my car for a couple of weeks my left front caliper won't release after braking and it starts to smoke after driving a few miles. My question is, is this a caliper problem or a master cylinder problem? The calipers are practically new with only 10k miles or so on them. I have put grease in the guide pins and the the boots are good so there isn't anything that should hold up the caliper from releasing, but I could be wrong. Yesterday when this happened I pulled over to let the brakes cool and after a few minutes I actually heard a pop come from that wheel and the brakes were then released. What do I need to look for to fix this? Thanks!

I have not replaced any brake fluid since purchasing the car, but the PO had a reputable shop replace the calipers so I would think they would put in Dot4 but I guess you can never be sure.

It could be a crappy rebuild or a collapsed brake soft line.

Either DOT3 or DOT4 brake fluid is fine.

The calipers were brand new not rebuilds. How would a collapsed soft line cause this problem?

            This will be:

            A bad caliper
            A bad soft brake line
A problem with the ABS module

The last is pretty unlikely and the first to are where to look first.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

              sticky cali

most likely a bad cali...or just sticky guide pins......remove pins... clean/sand down a bit w/ steel wool..and grease up.

              worked for me.
I love sitting down and just driving!
