    Help with CAB's asap

Im in the middle of this right now, my manuals dont sayanything about removing the whole control arm , but that is all I was able to find using searh
do you really have to remove the control arm to replace the CAB's, if so...sheep!!! then Im in a jam
I got new bushings pressed them into the loolipops, but I removed them without removing the control arm using a bearing press plate and a 3 jaw puller worked slick
but I cant get the new ones to go on
I emered colthed the arm adn used a 50/50 soplution of dishwashing detergent
but no go, even tried a hammer, but dont want to beat too hard unless thats the "trick,

I just put on stock CABs on a friends car, and used the method you are using. I did have to bang them on with a moderately big hammer, then they twisted on with some twisting and grunting.

      Maybe this will help.

      or
Have you noticed a squeaking or knocking noise from your car when going over bumps? Does the front end seem loose or wobbly? Chances are, you need to replace the suspension bushings.

I pull the control arm off when I change the FCABs. I have never been able to get the lollipop back on by hand or with a hammer. I have always had to use a press. Pulling the control arm off isn't too hard. You may run into a stuck ball joint though.

after posting here and reading other threads on the other froums, I went out to try again with my glasses on,
the first one was a be-atch thus my posting
I pulled it back off ( the little it was on)and found that the shaft was slightly msuhroomed, not by me. I filed off the mushroom and it slid on with just moderate hand pressure with silicone gresse and spun easily afterwards sp iot wasw very easy to get the bolts to line up

the second one, which I did not try before posting, after emmery cloth adn silicone, slid right on
Ill be back on the road in time, just gonna do a quick oil change and spark plugs before I do a test ride and clean up
hope that takes care of my shimmy as all else feels and looks good, but it was obvious to even me without glasses that my CAB's were shot when I compared mine to a friends days ago

        love these forums

        thanks for the help guys

If the shimmy persists, you probably have at least one bad inner balljoint.

yes shimmy is very much reduced but still there to a lesser degree, thoss ebushings were definetly shot
do you mean tie rod end or control arm, is there another "ball joint" inside the boot my cheap manuals dont show the tie rod or rack broken down, have a bentley on the way
as while I had it up in the air , it looks like on the driver side, I have a bit of play on the tie rod, coming from inside the boot, hope its not my rack

when i did mine i just unbolted the cab, the sway link and the tie rod, i then yanked the fuckin cab off. puttin it on is hard. i attend then gym alot and i was exhausted even with grease. remember to sand off the remains of old cab rubber.

Putting on CAB's is literally a 5 second job.
Spray foaming glass cleaner on the CA and the bushing hole. Put it up to the control arm with one hand, and smack it on with a dead blow hammer with the other. I do bushings all the time, and actually did my iX front CAB's on saturday, and it is such a simple job. Don't make things harder than they have to be!

good that you got the bushings on.. but in the future try spraying them with glass cleaner, then pound them on with a BFH. thats what i use and it works great
