ok Looks like I may have found my problem. I noticed the the brake shoes do not fit properly within caliper. Now the brake shoes are AC Delco and I ordered another set today just to see if they are the same and they are. E30 only called for one set of brake shoes for all models. What is puzzling is why are they fitting this way (picture below)? I have another caliper from an e30 that was parted out. I am going to see if the calipers are same/different. If so then I will have to make a trip to BMW to buy a set of rear pads and see if those fit. Anyone ever had this problem? Any suggestions?

You said you ordered a different set....Did you order the same A/C Delco ones or a different brand? Perhaps A/C Delco has a problem with their part numbers?sigpic
