Finishing up a 5-lug swap. All e30 m3 equip. I rebuilt the calipers on all four corners. When installing the brand new rotors and brakes, the front were an ABSOLUTE BEAR to get on. Just seemed like no matter how much we compressed the piston back into the caliper, there was just not enough space between the pads to accomidate the massive brand new zimmerman rotor and THICK juird pads. Anyone else ever have an issue with this combo of pad/rotor?
My dad thinks my buddy and I did something wrong or that something isn't right, esp after I told him we had to hammer the back of the caliper to get it on, and that it's so tight we can't rotate either front wheel. I'm beginning to think I may have messed up the front caliper rebuilds, but I dont see how I could have possibly gotten it wrong. There's nothing to it. (Only thing I can possibly think of is that I didnt use any lube like it said to do when I skimmed the directions. The pistons were still wet/slimy from the old brake fluid - not like I stuck them in completely dry though.)
It just seemed like if we had just one more mm of space it would have slid on snuggly... instead its hammered on SUPER DUPER snug.
Again, anyone ever have this issue?
