    Questions about changing brakes soon.

Im going to change my brakes this weekend and this is my first on a E30. Is there any special tools that I would need? I already have a brake kit but since this s german car maybe I need something different. Also would I be able to use my old brake sensors or will the pads have new brake sensors on them.

Im going to get just slotted disk brakes of ebay. I have about 200 bucks to spend so if any1 has a better deal in that price range post them up for me please.

You will need a 5mm and a 7mm allen socket. Otherwise, it's about as straightforward as you can get for a brake job. The pads will not have new brake sensors. It is a separate item, but if the brake pad warning light hasn't already gone off, you can reuse the sensors.

I would get blank rotors. The slotted aren't going to help you do squat.

I have had bad luck wiht sensors, seemed the last owner, when they did the brakes, siliconed them into the pads, so they did not come out nice, one broke, since then I have had a brake lining warning light on, as I did not replace the sensor
iof thta happens to you , dont worry, you know your pads are good and you can ignore it, or replace the sensor
I heard that thre is a way to shut it off without new sensors, but havent looked
when ordering my next set of parts for whatever the next project is, Ill order a new sensor

Thanks yeah my lights been on since the past 3 months and I finally got enough money saved up to buy brakes. Im thinking about just using the same rotors and getting new brakes since that light will stay on anyways

There is one very special tool needed for all E30 repairs: A Bentley Manual. Get it, live it, love it.

DO NOT use the old rotors! Get new rotors and new pads and ignore the light. Most of the time they don't work anyway so it's easiest just to remove the bulb.
