    Little help? Reinstalling rear subframe

    Hey guys,

My rear subframe has been rebuilt! New stock bushings, new seals on the diff, Billies, Vogtland springs, cleaned/painted, etc.

The issue I'm having now is getting the subframe back in the car. It's all together as one unit, which is how I removed it, but for some reason I can't maneuver it in. If I try to get the subframe bushings positioned correctly, the subframe interferes with the driveshaft>diff bolts. If I line those up, the subframe bushings are on the wrong side of the wheelwell. WTF? I'm so close I can taste it!!!!

    Any ideas?

take your driveshaft off. Its simple. If you can pull a rear subframe, you can pull off the driveshaft.

oh and take some pictures so we all can see the problem.

For some reason I was trying to avoid that, but it's probably the best solution. I'll give it a shot & post pics tonight...

No pics but I got it. :) Didn't need to remove the diff from the subframe either so bonus!

I finally got it by pushing in the driveshaft as far as possible (it wouldn't move much though) and getting one subframe bushing in the right place, then lifting the sf to get the driveshaft to line up with the opening in the sf near the diff. Then I was able to tilt down the rear and side to get the other bushing in place and align the rear diff mount. Whew!

          Thanks for the help guys!
