Non vented rotors to vented- 84 318i

As of right now I'm not too concerned about the rear drums on my early model 318i, I can swap to disk later on.

What I'd really like to change now is the front rotors. They're non vented and need to be changed out anyway, so I'd really like to upgrade to vented rotors.

On Realoem they show the two side by side and it looks like they're interchangeable. Can I buy vented disks and put them on my car without changing anything else?

Think I found my answer here http://www.e30owners.com/forums/showthread.php?p=9570 . Guess I'll need calipers from a car that came with vented disks. Are the non vented disks really all that bad? Would it really be worth it for a daily driver and occasional track day/auto-X car?

No they're not worth switching, or no, my info is wrong?

Just get complete front assemblies. You will be upgrading the smaller diameter strut tubes too. I got a set of both for ~100.00 at a yard, then throw new pads and rotors on them and be done.

So then I'll need to replace the Bilstien's that are on there with ones to fit the larger housings?

Sorry for all the noob questions guys.

Well, yeah, but if you get complete front components, you can just plug and play swap them out. The early 318i is different from every other e30 strut, so you can get something off of an eta, iS, i or even iC.

OK, just kind of sucks I'll have to buy new Bilstiens to replace the ones that were in the car when I got it.

Hopefully I'll have a while yet to redo the suspension and do some kind of engine swap.
