E34 M5 MC

    E34 M5 MC

    Does the E34 M5 use a dual chambered brake booster ala the 325iX, therefore utilizing a MC that mounts part way into the booster? Also, does anyone know if it is a bigger bore size (25mm maybe?).

    The iX brake booster is shared with 3/88-3/90 6cyl E32 cars.

    3/90+ 6cyl E32s and all 6cyl E34s including M5 share a different setup. I don't know if it's dual chambered though.

      IIRc mine is a V8 E34 booster. Different since the old M5s were I6. They were bigger though, and are half inside the booster. The downside is the mount for the resevior will be moved foward forcing you to use a remote resevior if you go with the IX booster setup.
      Im now E30less.

        Please excuse the thread jack--but does the iX booster provide greater vacuum assist than the regular E30?

          not that i know of. The only reason I used it was that it fit with my S50 (with trimming the find on the corner of the manifold) and that it bolted in stock-like.

          Its a bit smaller around than the regular booster.
          Im now E30less.

            Thanks Ryan. I assume a stronger vacuum assist would have a larger volume on the engine-side of of the booster.

              I dont think its as much the volume of space as the surface area of the part being pulled. The surface area is smaller so that is why (I assume) it uses dual chambers. I dont know if there are two membranes or not, it would be a really complicated system if there was.
