    Did I do something wrong?

I replaced my front pads a couple days ago and followed the pelican article but I'll detail the steps I took here:

    -Removed wheel
    -Removed caliper bolts
-Removed cap to brake fluid resevoir
-pushed caliper piston back to accomodate new pads
-replaced caliper, put bolts back in
    -put wheel on
-drove in safe are to help get pad seating started

Now I hear a squeaking coming from my rear brakes but they were done 8 months ago.

Is this a coincidence? What could I have done?

Doing the front brakes will have no affect on the rear, so it is a coincidence. Squeaking/ squealing brake are generally caused by either dirty rotors/pads (grease or oil on the rotor), "growler" clips on the pads that touch the rotor when the pads are low or from the pad vibrating at high frequency against the caliper piston. Pull the rear wheels off and take a look at the pads. They shouldn't be worn after 8 months, but people who are hard on brakes can wear through them that quickly. If they are fine, I'd pull the caliper off and applying some grease/anti-squeal to the backside of the pad. Get some brake clean and wipe the rotor down as well. If they squeal after this, the pads might be glazed.

      Thanks.

The rears were done 6K miles by a shop, I haven't done anything NEAR hard braking so I'm going to take them back to them and chew them out.
