    Lotus Brakes?

So I noticed the newer Lotus Elise (?) has a 4x100 pattern and a 2 piston FIXED brake calipers. I was wondering if anyone has tried it out. Just a thought :)

They're not that impressive in person; we've been approached do an upgraded caliper.

You'd be gaining an offset clearance problem and no advantage with the 1-piece rotor.

Yes, it's better than OE E30 parts, but what you'd have to do to get it to work would not result in a substantial reward.

If you could get the parts for cheap and could machine your own brackets it would be a worthwhile upgrade.

You'd have to take into account the caliper piston size. The last thing an E30 needs is more front bias.

erm, just looked at some calipers online. 2-piston and very very small pad area.

Unless you got the parts for almost free, I wouldn't think it a worthwhile upgrade. Wilwood or RX7 would be much better bang for the buck.

Don't need a lot of brakes to stop a 1900 lb car...

On that note my exige is for sale for 50 grand... just sayin..

Maybe it's the new found glory sticker on the e30 that does it.

Has anyone ever noticed that the Elise discs are the proper direction on one side, and opposite on the other side? Basically, on one side the directional vanes pull air from the center (correct way) and on the other side, it draws air from the outside. No to mention that the rear discs are basically the same as the front. Lotus commisionned to make one single mold, and some light machining was performed to fit the rear brakes. ;-)
Brake harder. Go faster. No shit.

My exige has both front rotors facing the correct way. The rears are finned radially with no sweep.
