Axle and general rear driveline/chassis knowledge needed ITT

Hi, if this has been covered I did do a brief search but didn't know what keywords would work best and came up empty handed.

I am planning on building a 2.7i this summer with the possibility of forced induction in the semi near future (over the fall/winter). The motor will not be permanent and will be my fathers if/when I have the money and time to swap an s54.

I think with that setup I should be looking at about 220-250 horsepower (afterforced induction and hopefully at the wheels) fairly safely, which should move this car very well. Anyway I was underneath the car last night spraying the undercarriage with oil (corrosion prevention) and I thought that the axles look very feeble in this car.

So my question to the forum is where I can find stronger axles for this car? Also subframe and control arm re-enforcement seems like it may be a good idea to start looking at.

In this thread I figured would be a good idea to compile what we know of the rear end of the car (mechanically) and possibly tow/sticky this thread in another forum if there is enough knowledge in this thread to justify it. ALL information on the subject is welcome :).

You don't need stronger axles until you've eclipsed 500whp...

Your stock units will do just fine if they are in good shape.

You can break axles if you spin and hook, but its more a driving style issue than a parts weakness one.

You'd need to do something extreme like full MZ3 or E28 rear for beefier axles
