greasing rear ATE caliper guide bolts?

Due to a slightly sticking rear caliper I just picked up a set of remanufactured ATE rears. Thanks to Blunt Tech and Guten Parts, and Kishg for the recommendation!! I opened the box and unwrapped the calipers and saw that the guide bolts were pretty well greased. The calipers moved nicely on the bolts, especially compared to the calipers I have on the car even with new guide bolts and new rubber bushings (and nothing on the guide bolts).

I remember reading somewhere that while the Girling guide pins on the front calipers should be greased, the guide bolts on the ATE rears should not be. Any insights? Do you guys put a light coating of sylglide or something comparable on your ATE rear caliper guidebolts or leave them dry?

    Thanks.

a little bit of grease is ok, just don't get any on the pads or rotors

A bit of synthetic brake grease on the guide pins is okay, but it will collect dirt and need to be refreshed often. I think it is better to run the pins dry. As long as the guide bushings are in good condition the pins won't bind. How long the guide bushings last is mostly a function of how hard the car is driven. I replace the bushings on my Spec E30 every year since they see a lot of heat. On a street car, every other pad/rotor change seems about right to me.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

another dumb thing I ran into, one set of guide pins had an allen size of 5 mm and the other one was an SAE size -_-

well, I didnt grease too heavily so I'll keep an eye out.

Thanks to everyone for the replies. I'm coming from a miata where light greasing of the caliper guide pins is required practice to avoid bigger brake problems, so the recommendation of dry ATE rear guide bolts on the e30 has taken some getting used to.
