    front brakes

Recently decided to replace my front brakes. Did this many times before.
I ordered the textar from, I guess, pelican parts, a years or so ago, and did not check the box at arriving. I ordered many times with no problems. But this time, all of the sudden, I found the new brake pads did not have steel shims attached, and the they were absent in the box. The new brake pads have layer of glue clearly visible on the back.
I tried to use shims from the worn pads, but they do not stick to the new ones. I was thinking to glue the shims using blue brake glue from a part store but I noticed on other cars steel shims have bent tabs, which holds the shims in place. Bmw shims do not have the tabs, the shims might fell of. Shold I reorder new brake pads? Any ideas?
    Thank you.

The pad design may have changed. The shims are a means of reducing squeal from the pads, but a resilient backing will do the same thing. It sounds like the shims have been superceded by the backing material.

The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

I've got a reply from Pelican parts:

"Michael Ashcraft has responded to your Message Center request.

      -----------------------------------------------

      -----------------------------------------------
      Hello,

Sure, according to the manufacturer, the textar pads are supplied with the metal shims ."

My fault. I should be checking parts at arriving.
