after replacing all of my rear suspension the subframe and arms are in but the diff won't really line up with the subframe. Is this common?

      Yeah, it happens.

Happened to me when I swapped diffs. Read about some other people having the same problem here.

Solution is to set all four diff bolts loosely enough to give you some wiggle room (3 or 4 turns once the thread catches), then reel it in a few cranks at a time on each bolt until it's torqued to spec.

I found that if I tighten any/multiple bolts without everything at least threaded one of them one won't line up.

3 of mine went in easy, fourth wouldn't line up, though if i took my time and didn't do it halfass in my garage i could get it in. been fine since even with 3 lol. one of these days i will fix it.

Okay cool, I'm not alone haha.

My issue is that the hanger doesn't allow me to get the diff into position to line it up with the sub... should I just keep wiggling stuff around until they fit? that's what I'll be trying today haha

make sure your jack stands are not holding up your sub frame....position them on the body. I had this issue and found that the jack stands were actually not even and twisting the subframe in a wierd way so the bolts wouldn't line up

I think I prefer to have all 4 of the bolts holding my rear end in my car thank you... Something this important should be tightened down properly, not saying yours is going to fall apart but if your doing any type of spirited driving give yourself the peace of mind and do it correctly.
