    Brake upgrade

Hey guys, I'm short on time so I'll post the basics:

    Front:
    ATE Power Discs rotors
    Mintex redbox
    IE SS lines

    Back:
    OEM Rotors
    Mintex redbox
    IE SS lines

I also want to throw in new calipers up front, but I might just buy them off a low mileage e30 and settle with that.

    Any suggestions?

you might want to run a gnarlier pad, maybe ultimates, or if you want to step up, HT-10's

I'm sure FHP will stop and check my lines every time I get pulled over.

I have ultimates on my other e30. I have no complaints of braking but I've been hearing good things about Mintex redbox.

I have the EXACT same setup on my car.

I've run it for 12k miles and I like it so far. True, the pads aren't super aggressive, but they have good bite and I have yet to see them fade on the street. We'll see how they do on the track this summer.

Mintex C-tech pads are what I would put on.

www.poudresportscar.com can order you some Mintex C-tech and its something like $150-175. Best pads I have ever had. I had the sport model and they lasted for a 50min sesson of track abuse and I was still able to drive home on them. dust was very minimal and worked good on the street. Would not put anything else on my new E30.

Just remember: brake pads are like tires. Everyone else has an oppinion about what is the best and what should be used.

                      Good stuff. Keep it coming.....

I like trying new things so I'm not sure I'll go with Axxis Ultimates again.

I've had great luck with the Hawk HP+ pads. They dust a lot for the street, and are noisy, but they stop the car very well when warm and are very good at resisting fade.

i just upgraded to zimmerman xdrilled rotors all around, and PBR metal masters all around too. rotors are great, pads are SHIT! maybe OK for street. were fading and glazed after one hot lap on the track, total junk. i just ordered a set of Hawk HPS pads rear and HP+ for the front. ill update later.

                            HP+ = god's street pads.

They grip well, work well enough in cold and do well when hot, and they last a good long while when you learn how to brake and don't drive like an asshole. I did two back to back weekends on a set (9+ hours track time) and I've still got pad. They're noisy and dusty, but you can tell people it's a race car.

One of these days, I'm sure someone will explain why people still buy metalmashers.

Swing wild, brake later, don't apologize.
