Don't buy brake rotors from Napa!

So one of my front brake rotors is unevenly warn. I figure I'll replace both sides. Kinda wanted to do it today so I give Napa a call. I ask how much for front brake rotors are; they are 74.00 for brembo blanks they say. I'm thinking thats a bit more than online, 50-60 bucks if you know where to find em, but I was ok with it. I go to pick them up, they open the box and proceed to tell me since there are 2 in a box, the price is 74.00 each. I said that can't be right considering they are so inexpensive online. They argue with me saying that because I drive a BMW, rotors are expensive. So I laughed and walked out. It would have been 158.36 including tax for 2 front brembo blanks...right. I could have a set overnighted for less than that delivered by a man wearing brown shorts.

So the moral of the story is: Don't buy rotors from Napa or attempt to reason with the people working there. Napa, suck a dick.

Are you that surprised? Buy parts from a reputable BMW parts company.

I 95% of the time buy from places like Turner, RM European, and BMA. But in the past buying other random parts from Napa, prices didn't seem out of line. Brake rotors being over 100% more expensive than reputable BMW parts companys? Yes, I was suprised. They are more expensive than our local BMW dealer and THEY are huge rip-off artists.

One exception. Napa carries M42 fuel pumps, which to my eye actually looked and felt like they were better than the factory one (assuming the one I pulled was original). Best part:cost was $40 and it was in stock.

But for everything else, yeah. Buy the real thing.
