I just put new rear pads and rotors (OEM) maybe 6 weeks ago and roughly 1000 miles. I was looking over the rear rotors and they still look new. They still have the machining lines on the wear area. Shouldn't they be shiny by now? I'm wondering if my rear brakes even work haha.

The rear brakes don't do a whole lot on an E30, but if you don't see any evidence of wear you should check to see if the rear brakes are working. Get the rear in the air, have someone hold pressure on the brake pedal and see if the wheel will turn. The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

This is the golden rule of breaking in pads:
Fast and easy on the brakes to get heat, not slow and hard on the brakes to get heat.
You should be at least 45 or 50, try to get the brakes to smell (windows down) in one minute, then let off for one minute. Here is my photo gallery answering common questions about Ground Control Suspension, and e30 suspension problems in general.
