    stupid inner brake lines....

So frustrated right now...Been trying for the last hour and a half to get the rear inner brake lines off and all I have to show for it is a rounded off fitting...grrr. Is there some special tool I need? My 10mm line wrench doesn't fit, and my 11mm open end is too big. No idea how I'm going to get to the one above the subframe. They are soaking in Kroil right now, hopefully I have better luck tomorrow.

Anyone just cut the hard lines where they meet the flex lines, then flair new fittings on?

did you use a flare wrench? if its stripped really bad you better off cutting it and putting a new fitting on just in case you need to take the line off again in the future.

Mine didn't want to come off. Stripped it nice and round, then cut it off and fitted a new line on. Should have done it from the start since it's pretty easy. Just go to NAPA and get the preflared tube and bend it to match the shape of the original.

What sucked worse is I got the deep (under subframe) fitting loose no problem, feeling great, then it was the easy to reach one that sucked me into a time/happiness vacuum.

The brake line fittings are 11mm and it is very important that you use a high quality flare wrench. Soaking the fittings for a day or two in PBlaster or Kroil reduces the chances of rounding the nut..
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

Good info, thanks. The fittings have been soaking in kroil since yesterday. I'm going to pick up an 11mm flair wrench and some pre-flared line with new fittings to replace the one I already f'd up, luckily its the lower one that goes to the wheel so should be fairly easy to replace. Hopefully the others come off easier with the right tools and a good kroil soaking.
