control arm trouble on the DD

ok so my ball join in the right control arm is shot. i mean SHOT.
been dd it with no real issue, just some clunking. thought it be ok till i have money to order parts.
so i just ordered parts today. but it has gotten much worse, getting the shakies in the steering above 40. dont really want to drive like this but know i have to use the car since i have no alternative. now what i ask:

1. what are the possible dangers of continueing to drive like this until i can fix it?
2. is there anything i can do to make it driveable till mid next week? like tightening something or useing some shims?

1. ball joint breaks, you go for a ride!
2. I imagine you could wrap the whole joint/arm with something stretchy like surgical tubing to try and keep it from banging around as bad. There is nothing to tighten or adj. Avoid rough roads and potholes!
3. Keep car weight down, skinny chicks only!
