4 point lower cross brace

There is basically a slotted washer welded to the end of those tubes which a bolt goes through.


I'm not trying to knock the American made enthusiast products they are all really nice and I would and do support the sellers when I can afford to do so. I'm just a little cheap I guess. I got a Chinese ebay style sub frame brace for my rabbit for 25 bucks shipped which is of similar quality to this ultra racing unit.


Before that (when my race header did not interfere) I paid 150 for an even nicer American made unit from a reputable seller. The reason the e30 parts cost more I suspect is because these are after all BMW's and the volume/demand is lower. There are a lot more terrible vw's than e30's on the road.

My issue has been forwarded to the engineering department at ultra racing and hopefully they will not release any more with this defect. 400 bucks isn't a reasonable price in my mind. Coming from the vw scene the cost of aftermarket bmw parts makes my blood pressure rise. Also the availability of used aftermarket parts like this is nonexistent.

not sure what you are used to but 400 bucks for the place and brace is pretty good. Considering its plug and play, and off quality. You could probably fab a cross brace for cheaper but here the R&D has been done. I will say this though, I have only ever seen 2 used skidplates for sale. and they fetched close to original price.

I'm a little confused. How exactly does this mount? Is there a plate welded on at the end of the tubes with a hole in it?

BTW. as far as i remember ejknight will ship you a cross brace and a skid platye for 400 bucks.

totally a better deal than the rest of this stuff.

Lower x brace

Been looking around for a lower cross brace to stiffen up the front end. There were a few options but I felt they were all too much money for something so simple.

I went with the ultra racing unit because of the price, if the e36 part was a direct fit I would have used that instead. The ultra racing piece feels and looks sturdy enough to have the desired effect. I plan to install it this weekend will report back with fitment and stiffness comments.

it uses the 2 steering rack bolts in the front and one set of the control arm lollipop bolts.

How do the rear bolts mount? just drill into the frame?

The ebay seller responded today (less than 24 hours) he apologized for the issue and said he would be willing to give me a partial refund or discount on another item. I simply asked him to double check the production jig and another bar or two in stock to ensure that the same defect will not be present for anyone else. Install will continue as planned this weekend.
