two different types of brake master cylinders?

my brakes dont seem to have alot of pressure and often the pedal will slowly push to the floor at a stop sign so i went to a local pick and pull and picked up a nice clean one for 30 bucks and one year unlimited exchange (beats 150 for a new one)

but when i got home i noticed that the cap a reservoir were different and the brake master itself was black where as the one i bought was silver.

will it still bolt on? i have an 87 325ic and the car i pulled it off was a 1990 325ic... did the later models have a different brake mast cylinder?

so if i have to go back and exchange should i get oem or the 750 brake master cylinder?

does it improve braking or just make it harder to press on the pedal?

Really your assessment of how it is different is by color alone?
Ya color means it will never work. Just like when I change my oil I get worried cause the oil is cleaner looking.
However in 1987 there are three part numbers for the master cylinders so you may be right in that it is wrong
    OH
I have the upgraded master cylinder. I like it for threshold braking. But yes it firms up the pedal.

yea, since the color, cap assembly/harness, and reservoir were all different i didn't want to take the old one out just to find out that the new one doesn't fit. seems like a pretty reasonable assessment to me...
