    brake lights wont go out

Just had master cylinder and brake booster replaced. I also replaced the calipers. Now the brake lights won't go out. Its as if one has his foot on the brakes constantly. Brakes seem to work fine....but all three brake lights are on continuously. Any suggestions or advice?

      +1.

That happened to me one night (wasn't working on my car at all prior to this) and I had to drive home with bright red lights shining on everyone behind me. Once I got home I checked the brake switch underneath the steering column near the brake pedal and found out that the switch was loose (I probably accidentally kicked the panel by accident and knocked the switch loose) and just connected it back and the brakes worked fine after that.

The brake light switch could have been damaged when replacing the MC or the position of the pedal arm may be different. The switch is adjustable.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

car is not actually mine....belongs to my twin boys 18....who would kill me if i thought about parting it out. They have put their heart, soul and money into their vert. New suspension, (H&Rs and bilsteins), 5 speed swap, plastic bumpers, maplight mirror, Alpine stereo....Style 5s are being filled and drilled as we speak. And Stereoinstaller should cool out....because a Luke box is in the future!

Bad ass...did you get the brake light switch fixed yet? No brakelights, no bumps, isn't that the rule?

To bump this thread and not create a new one, I'm having a problem where my switch keeps popping out of place which then causes lack of contact and the brake lights stay on until I drop the kick panel, reach in and press the switch back into place.

Do I need to simply replace the switch? Or is there another part I should get, the part that the switch clips into which may have lost its ability to properly retain the switch? I have to baby the release of my brake pedal which is very annoying.

replace the switch. there 10 bucks. hell, 25 from the dealer.
once any of the clips on it are broken, it wont work because it can move around.
once it is a little loose the mechanisim won't work correctly.
