Pedal gets hard and brakes start to stick

Just replaced the rotors / pads and rebuilt the front calipers. This is my first time driving the car after buying it.

I drove it for about 80kms without any issues, pedal felt great. After a while th pedal started to get firmer and firmer, Eventually noticed the brakes were sticking a little. Now everytime i drive it, it happens in about 10 minutes.

Any ideas?

A hard pedal is most often caused by a bad brake booster. Sticking brakes could from sticking calipers, a bad soft brake line, or a bad master cylinder.

Just went for a short drive. It got really bad. The fronts were very very hot, the rears felt so-so. I rebuilt only the front calipers so now I'm worried that I did something wrong...

How would I find out which is causing the actual problem? I'm swapping the motor in less than a month, including a new master cylinder and brake booster so don't want to change those twice.

More than likely the bleed port in your master cyl is blocked. When the fluid heats up and expands it cant move back into the reservoir so your brakes get applied which heats the fluid more which....... you see where this is going.

An easy way to test if you have this condition is to remove one caliper and attempt to push the caliper piston all the way back in its bore. If you have this problem you will NOT be able to push the piston back.
