2002 brake booster opinions

My M/C crapped out on my 1990 and stupid me I didn't plan on a booster failure when I replaced it. I'm trying to source a stock booster but the few I've found are upwards of $150 for untested, used units that need to be shipped. I have a friend offering me a good condition 2002 booster for free and I'm tempted to use it but have found people saying it offers VERY little power assist compared to stock. Anyone with an opinion on this setup? Reviews are few and far between, many of them a few years old now.

Car will be getting new Zimmerman rotors and textar pads, new hoses, and ATE Superblue fluids at the same time, all calipers are in good condition.

You can get a reman from NAPA, Advance, etc for about $110. And if installed with a new master cylinder it will carry a warranty. Understand that in most cases a failure of a brake booster will be from a bad master cylinder that is leaking brake fluid into the booster. So replace both at the same time.

I suppose you could try the 02 booster, but I doubt the result would be satisfactory (if it will even mount).

The 2002 also needs a bit of modifying before it fits in an E30.

Forgot to check back in this thread but I ended up finding an e30 partout locally and snagged one from him. Thanks for the input though!
