Hey guys, I was wondering if you guys had any thought about this BBK from RPI. If its a waste of time I'll end up doing a 5bolt swap with ///M brakes

Wilwood Cad plated CNC drilled and slotted 2-piece rotor design. 12" x .87"

-Goodridge stainless braided brake lines.
-CNC machined aluminum brackets and rotor hats finished impeccably in nickel plating
-Lightweight Wilwood Billet Dynalite II 4-piston aluminum calipers with bridge bolt bracing.
-Grade 10.9 hardware

Each kit utilizes Wilwood Polymatrix pads pads. These pads provide excellent bite on the street.

RPI ships these kits completely preassembled, turning installation into a straightforward job which typically takes less than an hour

I heard that as well. I have one in the basement, waiting on 16" wheels. I can't talk about their performance, since I've yet to install them, but they are all wilwood parts the calipers are 4-piston dyanlites, wilwood being a reputable company, with the hats and brackets being the only thing RPI made or commisioned. The machining looks good. Lines that come with it are goodridge (sp?) another reputable company. I would say that it is the best kit I have seen for $900. Definitely some thought was put into it's construction.

Ted had those on his 3.0i. He seemed to like them.

I've never heard anything bad about that kit, but I really don't like the RPI EQUIPED logo machined into the caliper, or the chrome plated rotor hat.

Jordan i agree why the hell did they need to machine that in. I'll buy new wilwood calipers at some point. I however do not mind the chrome.

hmmm, seems like everyone that has this kit recieved the "very last kit produced" Wouldnt surprise me at all if they had two more "last kits"

I posted this in the 4x100 brake kit thread...but thought it'd be directly useful here:

I've got RPI Equipped's Wilwood kit. When I bought it, it was only $795 USD, and has now gone up $200 USD. RPIs service was excellent.

For the money I paid, I think they are great. Definitely feel they are a good step up from OEM (plus they are 1.3kg lighter than OEM per side). The brackets and hats are very well made. With the price hike however, I think I'd consider something like Ireland Engineering's kit. Also, the spokes of Alpina and Schnitzer 16" wheels fowl on the calliper with the RPI kit...a friend had to get ~3mm spacers made for his car when he got the RPI kit.

My first gripe is that RPI advertises the rotors as being .87" (22mm) wide...however they are only 20.6mm wide.

Second gripe is that I've managed to warp the rotors, and had to have them machined. Apparently warping is fairly common with Wilwood rotors. I've read that they are not particularly well heat-treated by Wilwood, and that I may need to machine them once or twice before they settle down. While that sounds bad, considering something like AP rotors are still far more expensive, machining them is cheap and so it's a price compromise I guess. I'm not overly worried about it at this stage.

I spoke to Wilwood about the warping, and they said the SRP rotors RPI supplied are not really suitable for my application, and that their GT series rotors are more robust...so when it comes time to replace them, I'll try the GT series.

Another thing to keep in mind is the callipers used in this kit do not have dust seals on the pistons (I knew this before buying, and I don't think it's a really big deal...rebuild kits are cheap) and so will probably wear faster than OEM or a big name calliper.

No dust seals are big deal where it snows and you get crude in them. One of the reasons I passed on a set and due to I didn't to be limited to 16" wheels exclusively. It snows where I'm at so i like skinny small 14" steelies for snows.

There other alternative as Grapedrink has garnered all BBK threads and posted most all links. There are a few more manufacters of kits but the are not commonly found here in the US. I see them advertise in UK mags.

Not everyone lives where it snows though...like me...In Australia where rain can be rare, and snow unheard of :D!
