I'm finishing up replacing my control arms, CABs, tie-rod ends, shocks, springs, and the last thing I'm getting to is putting on new brake pads. I would really like to have this car done by tomorrow. Is it necessary that I replace the nut that when removed allows the caliper to pivot away from the brake pad holder? Any advice would be appreciated. First time I've ever done anything brake or suspension related.

The slide bolts? I'm drawing a blank...I can't think of what you're talking about on an e30. There's two slide bolts holding the caliper onto the caliper bracket and two 19mm's holding the bracket onto the spindle, right? The first car I ever rode in was an e30

At the moment, I have the entire caliper hanging. So Vivek, I've removed the two bolts that attach the caliper bracket to the strut housing. I think it will be easiest to reattach those and then separate the bracket from the caliper, but I have no idea. And I have no idea where I'm going with this. Best look at it tomorrow.

Yep, although depending on how stuck they are a 13 and 15 wrench may not be too hard with the whole thing hanging. I don't believe there's any reason to replace those bolts unless they're damaged. The first car I ever rode in was an e30
