I searched around everywhere and couldn't seem to get a good solution to this...
So the Issue I've been having is when I go over bumps, even the smallest ones, I get a really annoying, terrible-sounding rattle / metallic clunk type noise. In December, I overhauled the entire suspension - H&R sport springs, billies, all new bushings, tie rods / ends, control arms / ball joints, wheel bearings all around, and a new clutch. I had to take apart the front suspension in a parking garage one day because I left out two washers on each strut assembly which was causing the steering to bind. Since then, this clunk has happened. Video of noise:
Basically, the bracket and caliper slide bolts are tightened all the way, rotor is good, pads are good, and there is still play in the assembly. I believe these calipers are original, ATE ones. The problem seemed to be because the rubber deal in which the pin slides was worn down, and it was allowing it to move too freely. So I bought some rebuilt calipers off RockAuto (Powerstop brand, were pretty cheap but seemed nice). I put those on and I still have the same problem.
I was wondering what the hell the issue is. Could they not be bled right? I'm not all that knowledgable about brakes, but it seems like when the pedal is released the piston is not contacting the pad at all. Should it be like this or is it not bled right? Any suggestion would be appreciated.
Thanks, JB
Edit: In addition, if I apply the brakes even very lightly over bumps, the noise goes away.
