Brake Pad Spring Clip

was putting on these new Centric Posi-quiet brake pads in the rear, kinda forcing them in a little but not too crazy when the spring clip on the back face of the pad fell off. Is this a big deal? It's attached on that photo but the pin doesn't hold it in too well. Can I go without the clip?

The pads may clack at low speeds, but they will work okay. I'd exchange them.
