Racers, what rotors are you using? My 1st & 2nd choices are NLA..

So I have been using Centrics High-Carbon 125 series for the past few years and had good success until they changed the product. Since then I had 2 rotors fail, one split in half and tore the whole front right corner out of the car.

I have had good success with the ATE PremiumOne rotors (elliptical star shape slots) but I cant find them anywhere. These are going on to an endurance car so regular street rotors will not be good enough. Gotta be hard steel, high carbon trackable rotors.

We were paying $45 each for the Centrics, but now they are crap and I wouldnt take them for free. Hoping to not have to double that cost.

We run the cheapests Duralasts you can get (25-30 each) and have never had one fail, even with the extra weight of an M30 up front.

Granted, you guys do drive a bit harder :p

Yeah, we tried Brembo and Zimmerman OEM style and had issues. Thats when we switched to the high carbon ones. We no longer had issues with weird deposits, cracking, warping etc. I am reluctant to go back that route, but financially speaking it may be the only option. Looks like ATE PremiumOne's Are no longer available in NA. Lame!

that is a full race pad, have you tried something less aggressive like enduro pads (PFC06, PFC08 )?

Tried all types of pads. Nothing works as well or lasts as long as these. Plus I already have them so not willing to switch.

Fair nuff. I got no ideas other than "brake less hard"..

I think the regular ATE may be the same metal just without the slots. Also looking for info on Sebro. Those are my best lead at the moment.

I use the least expensive rotors I can find. They last just as long as the expensive ones (proven by test). Rotors will eventually crack from the thermal cycles they experience, with the front rotors going first. Cooling ducts for the front rotors lead to a longer life.

Deposits on the rotors are strictly a matter of the pads. Any pad can leave a deposit on the rotors if the car is brought to a stop with the pads and rotors at high temperature (like during a pit stop or red flag event), but some pads are worse than others in this respect. The PFC pads seems to be better than most in this respect.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

It's not exactly that cut and dry. When I say cracks, I'm not talking about the little hairline fissures. I'm talking about a broken rotor. And the metal does make a difference in the chances of developing deposits, heat dissipation, and warping.
Regardless ofnournopinions on that matter, I am still looking for an affordable high carbon opinion. Hopefully underb $70.
Racing brake and Freemax both make the kind of thing I'm looking for, just not for e30s.

Sounds like it's time to call Massive thena nd order up a real BBK, so you can use real NASCAR style rotors with limitless possibilities?? Nearly everybody I know (E30 & E36 alike) use cheap parts store rotors (or generic Brembo/Zimmerman OEM ones), including the chump guys running 12+ hour races, and none have the issues you speak of.

I would never spend that kinda money on e30 brakes unless it had crazy hp and tons of rubber. We found a pair of sebro rotors and after 11 hours of racing they still look brand new. Too bad they stopped making them.
