I'm currently in the market for a bbk and have searched this topic to death. I have found nothing very current comparing our offerings. I'm looking at uuc, ie, and massive. I anybody has experience with these kits chime in. What are the ups and downs of each kit. I can't decide if I should just pick up the uuc kit which is the most cost effective, go middle of the road with ie or if it's really worth it to buy the massive sport kit. Thanks for the help!

I have UUC's kit and it's fantastic. That said, you can read about someone else's and my own issues with them below. The hardware is fantastic, the support (other than pads) is almost nonexistent. I have bought other things from Lee and been very pleased. The choice is yours...

The hardware is good because it's not made by UUC.

UUC doesn't build anything. Along with everything else they tell you, thats also a lie. I know who manifactures the calipers (and it's probably the same company that makes the hats, but I don't know that for certain). Unfortunately, I can't post who, as I'm not sure what kind of contractual agreements, etc. may be involved.

Pad wear depends on what pads and the use. I had street pads on initially and they were fine for their use, but died very quickly with track/autox/mountain run driving, which is to be expected. I've been on the DTC-30 track pads since (it's primarily what I use the car for) with no real issues, and quite decent life. You need some good street tires to run them though, I had hard 215 all seasons the first time I tried them and flat spotted the shit out of the tires.
I can vouch that the hats and calipers aren't built in house, but unlike Ken have no compunction about sharing (you can thank Crown Royal). They had to send my calipers out to be redone (odd for being done "in house") and the hats, though I don't necessarily know who makes them, are exactly compatible with Wilwood components, as are their caliper seals. The last set of rotors I ordered I went directly through Wilwood, no issues.88 325is - S52 powered

I've been running the UUC BBK since September 2011 and I love it! I am running the street pads.
No, I'm just smart enough not to buy anything from those unethical pieces of shit. I'm sure its a fine bbk, the ,manufacturers of the caliper are top notch.

I'm not the biggest UUC fan either but I am very happy with this bbk and the price I paid.

I love my Massive Sport Kit and manual brake setup from Lee. Excellent service all around, even when the one problem I had was clearly my fault.(I lost some key components in a messy shop.) I recently bought another set of pads and am still amazed at the variety of pad options available for the superlites.

Well, for the record, I put together a couple Ireland Eng. E30 BBK's a week. So for what its worth I like to think I'm pretty open to the community. Not going to bash Rob or Lee's kits as they both tend to stop the car in a quick fashion, that being said I'm pretty dang proud of our kits.
The hats and brackets are made in-house, each kit is demo'd on a strut prior to shipping.

My only beef with the commercially available BBK's, is that if you really want better stopping performance, it really should be done F & R. Front-only kits won't always improve stopping distances, the biggest benefit to a front-only kit is going to be consumables costs, and increased heatshed ability (fade resistence). Perhaps Lee can comment on this better?

If you want front and rear Lee does offer up both and I will absolutely have them on my track car when it's built. :D
