    Front Subframe Help (replacing)

Posting here for more chance of a reply.

I'm having trouble lining up the sub frame with the body.
With one side on, the other side just almost lines up it's a like 1-2~mm off to the side to lining up.

My old *front* subframe was cracked (clear across the weld, sides were only thing holding) and the 'triangle' (mount sits on it) was bent inwards (towards front of car). So I pulled out a used sub frame from a 150k 318.

Removal of my rack/sub was fine. I bolted up my rack/control arms/swaybar, I can't seem to get both sides mounted up, I can get one side fine but not both.
It's a sure PITA to try and get each side lined up and the steering column into the knuckle.

    Since then I've tried:
-Having one side loosely on and trying to line up the other side.
-removed motor mount to see if it was bad and causing excess pressure on the frame and causing the issue; nope.
-a crazy zip tie contraction to try and see if using them to ratchet the rack closer to the side it needs to go; nada. it did help great keeping it in that place though.

    What am I missing??
I unbolted the steering knuckle from the top one, does it make it easier doing the bottom one?

I am going to remove the struts off tomorrow, they and the damn brake shield constantly get in the way.

Thanks in advance for any help!

The subframe not lining up means that the frame of the car is distorted. The fix will be to put the car on a frame machine.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

^ this, it sucks to hear but that is more than likely your issue with the subframe.
