    334mm Ebay BBK, thoughts?

Getting into the market for brakes for my car. Its a 92 318 cabby with an iron block LQ9 +/- 500 whp. Not sure on what the final curb will be but guessing around 3200. Anyways just looking to see whats out there and found these http://www.ebay.com/itm/Big-Brake-Ki...p2054897.l4275

They are big plenty of brake to stop my heavy ass e30, and look to use pretty good quality componets. The things I have questions about are the rotors themselves they appear to be 1 piece and only come in crossed drilled which i think will be overkill for a street car. What are everyone's thoughts?

Also It looks like you can order blank rotors for the same price or just Slotted rotors for $70

What do you see in those?

Personally, I see heavy one-piece rotors with a big ass area of unused friction surface. I see $170.00usd for shipping when we all know it costs less than half of that to ship. I see a 5 bolt disc when the e30 has 4. I see a very wrong offset for the e30.

I am not convinced it is quality stuff

PS In regard of drilled rotors. They are not overkill for the street car. You should in fact use drilled disc only for a street car. On the track, holes is where the stress cracking will start...

PS2 - With 500hp, you need to start investigating not just in a front kit, but front and rear. You should get basically the same brakes as what is found in the car from which you got the motor from...

As a fellow "competitor" I wasn't going to say anything, but that chickens been thrown out the window.

Agree with Lee, except that drilled rotors do have their usefulness on AutoX cars.

Correct. Because autocross stints are usually short and the extra "grating" may help create friction and heat quickly. Try beating them for 20 minutes sessions, results may vary... ;-)

It would be funny except for the number of times I see it happen.

Well this is why I asked! I was interested mostly because the price is 500 cheaper than a similarly priced kit also this kit includes EVERYTHING needed to install. And Lee if you read the description is says the kit does come with 4 lug rotors and shipping is free to usa that live in the us. Shipping to Canada is $170

I'm honestly just looking for the best brake set up with a $1000 budget

What I'd be concerned about is rotor availability if the supplied ones end up cracking or worn down.

Add $500-800 to that budget and you can do a front and rear BBK / 5lug swap. I used the Lithuanian hub adapters Max sells in the front, z3 non-m 6cyl hubs in the rear. I guess if you don't mind rocking two different kind of lugs per axle you could do the front for in the ballpark of $700 or so.

It's $200ish for the adapters from Max
                  $200 for the hubs/wheel bearing assemblies (330i)
                  $80 for rotors (330i)
                  $100 for calipers (330i)
                  $90 for hawk pads (330i)

Add in $300 for a new set of reeymz and tires and you're at your budget, plus new reeymz and tires.

All parts I got were for a 2002 330i. Incredible difference in stopping power. Per a brake calculator I used, you double your braking torque. Might not be as effective as other BBKs as far as cooling capabilities go, but it will make it feel like you've got power assisted brakes again.
