    Removing stripped assembly line screw from hub

    Hey all! I just got got some new wheel studs to replace the old wheel bolts/studs and I've completed one whole hub with virtually no trouble. When I moved on to the next hub, I found that the assembly line screw that hold the rotor on was pretty much stripped as none of my 5mm hex tools could get a good grip into it. Any tips or tricks on removing a stripped one of these? Thanks in advance!

      I didn't remove my rotors to install studs..?

      anyway, when I have this issue, I just drill the set screw out.

        So drilling out the screw would be safe to do? Because I've heard you technically don't need it. Thanks for the feedback! Any other feedback is greatly appreciated!

          Use a drill a bit larger than the hex socket and go slow. The drill will cut the head off and PBlaster and vise grips will get the remainder out. Coat the new rotor screws with anti-sieze before installation to prevent the same problem in the future.
          The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

              You could also just use a star drive that's a bit larger than the hex, pound it in with a hammer, then ratchet or wrench it out. Quite a bit simpler in my opinion.

                It wouldn't be a bad idea to keep using them, but I don't see any real problems with forgoing them now that you have studs. I recently put studs on my car and I just left the set screws in. When I strip one I'll probably just not replace it though.
