I have an 87 325is with the Ate calipers, booster, etc and drove somebody's late body 325i recently. I noticed right away that the brakes felt way more like a modern car brake compared to mine. The pedal was much lighter and it took less effort overall to use the brakes. I also noticed that this other car had Girling parts rather than the Ate.
My question is, do the early cars generally have a very different braking feel than the later ones? Do I just need to freshen up my system or am I likely dealing with something not working as it should? I did a 24v a couple of years ago and shifted my booster over to fit the engine. It's possible that it was damaged while running a little too much angle on the rod but I don't have any evidence of a vacuum leak. What do you guys think?
