Hawk HPS pads vs. Mintex Redbox

Who has Hawk HPS and who has Mintex redbox?

I need to go ahead and order pads, and seem to recall both of these getting pretty fair reports from those that had them, though I'm not sure which to go with.

I would love to hear some recent feedback on either or both of these brands, long-term or short-term opinions. Oh, and where to buy them as well.

    Thanks,
    Bobby

I'd be interested as well. Any difference between old mintex red box, and new brown box?

For a pad in that category, I would go with PBR/Axxis Ultimate brake pads.

Excellent street pad with a surprisingly high maximum operating temp. of 1022° F.

Cheaper than the hawk HPS too.

That's the thing, I have those front and rear now, and have been a bit less than impressed by them. They seem to perform better at higher temps (after a few aggressive stops in series) but unfortunately for me, I don't work them out that much. I want something with quicker better bite.

I've heard this complain from a few people running ultimates before. They switched to the pbr metal masters compound and were pleased. These are even cheaper, too.

i had metal masters and switched to ultimates, and found the ultimates had more bite and less fade... the metal masters had chewed through a new set of rotors in just over a year too.

HPS perform about the same. Just go with Pagid, Jurid, or mintex.

I am running red box front and rear. They hve good bite but seem to fade out under heavy brakeing. But that may just be the fact that they have less than 400 miles on them.

                  Hawk HPS, no question.

How are you guys getting pad fade on the street?

? attempting to test out their rollbars?

Someone needs to throw down and try Carbotechs.

I don't like to mess around with guessing what street pad is decent, I know HPS's are nice.

Mintex reds should be here in a day or so. We'll see how it goes.

How are the mintex reds so far in terms of dusting and stopping RCWells?
I only go to autox's a few times a year so they don't have to be the best stopping pad.

I like my reds. A great pad for the street, however, I can't comment on them as a track pad.

No clue. I ran my HPS on some brake heavy tracks up here, and they performed resonably well, however they fade after about 10-15 min of hard lapping (non of that sissy shit that new BMW owners do).

So I'm looking at going with PBR's for now. I'm looking for something that won't fade a ton but are rotor friendly, don't want to go through my rotors like the guy above did in a year.

                              What do you suggest?
