90 325ix....I just started hearing a faint scraping sound coming from the front end, mainly when under acceleration and louder at higher speeds and it feels like something is holding the car back. At first I thought a caliper was sticking a little but I took it to a brake shop and they said they couldn't hear it and all wheels spun freely. I recently also heard a high pitch rubbing noise when turning sharp at slow speeds. Could it be a bad wheel bearing? Could it be something in the forward driveshaft? Or the axleshafts? Any help is appreciated

Sounds like it might be a bearing, but it should be grinding all the time and getting worse the faster you go. But I don't know ix's, so I wouldn't rule out anything else.Estoguy

I'd go with the bearing first.
Not sure if this will work with the ix because of the AWD... jack up the front end, have the car in neutral, and spin the wheel as fast as you can by hand. Put your hand on the spring coil. If there is roughness in the bearing, you should feel it in the coil.Estoguy

UPDATE: ive checked the front end and done some more research. While the noise when turning could be the result of a bad wheel bearing, I have found that the scraping sound is coming from the driveshaft because it recently turned into a thumping at medium to hard acceleration and at highway speeds. Im thinking it could be the center support bearing because ive read those make a metal winding noise when they go out (and possibly cause thumping too when going really bad?)
