    Rear brake pad "hooks"

Fitted rear brake pads, but neither of the "hooks" on the outer pads on the left or right sides fit into the slots. Both pistons are compressed, so not sure what else to do. Both hooks on the inner pads fit into the slots. Are the outer hooks supposed to fit, too?

Yes, the outer hooks should be in the slot as well. Did you compress the piston to a soft stop or just part way? Did you double check the P/N on the box for the pads? Did your set of pads somehow have a specific inner and outer pad?

Pistons seem to be fully seated. Old pads and replacement pads are identical, but for the thickness. P/N is not on the box, though (Bosch PosiQuiet). The inner pads differ from the outer pads as they fit into the piston, but both sets of replacement pads are identical. Rear calipers and front calipers seems to have the same amount of lateral play, so I am wondering if the outer rear pads eventually fall into the slot as they wear. Does that make sense or should they fit into the slot from day one? The pads are pretty snug on the rotors (second pic).

Looks like I ordered the wrong set of Bosch's. Ordered BP 322, instead of BP 279. Guessing that the 279s are thinner. Thanks, roguetoaster.
