    Parking Brake Removal

I know theres many threads about this but is there any way to disconnect the parking brake cable without dissasembling the rear hub. Can you unhook it from the handle and pull it back?
    Any suggestons are greatly appreciated.
    thanks in advance

Each cable is connected to the handle by a M6 (10mm head) nut.

Im aware of that but is there anyone who attached a guide line and pulled the cable back along the driveshaft tunnel. Is there a peice that keeps the cables a set distance apart(its like that on my audis). Ive never seen under an e30 without the drive shaft and heat sheilds. I guess ill be the first to try it. Ill update later.

The cables are held under the car by some metal holders that get rusted to the cable and make it a bitch to get them to slide back.

You don't need a guideline. I've removed and reinstalled the cables many times. You don't have to remove the heat shield or anything else. There are 2 metal tubes that guide the cables between the andle area and the rear subframe area. Just remove the nuts and pull the cables from the rear. To install just push them back into the tubes.
I see no reason to dissassemble the rotor.

Just a little late to see your post. I just got done doing it the hard way(well not really just more work). Came apart pretty easy honestly.
              thanks anyway.

Got the subframe out tonight. Nothing stuck in the body.
                  There is hope.

Good to hear. How did you get the cable out from behind the hub after the actuator was off? It looks like it pulls off, maybe mine is just stuck.

Ya, the metal pins gets stuck in the trailing arms and in the metal tubes on the underbody. I just used a pipe wrench to turn them and they came off. I did cut my parking brake cables, but I am replacing them anyways.
